IPPMF IRELAND – Project Portfolio Management - Influencing the Weather?
Thursday 6th October
Portfolio management is a hot topic and there are reports of return on investment exceeding 20-30%, but research also shows that many fail to achieve the potential returns.
The session explored the lessons from research and practical experience including:
- What is portfolio management and what’s the case for doing it?
- What is the evidence for the benefits claimed?
- What are the four key factors that make the difference in determining success?
Keynote Speakers: Steve Jenner
The session was be presented by Steve Jenner, co-author and Chief Examiner for the Management of Portfolios exams. Steve designed, implemented and operated the CJS IT approach to portfolio and benefits management that won the 2007 Civil Service financial management award. He is the author of the books; ‘Realising benefits from government ICT investment – a fools errand?‘(Academic publishing, 2011) and ‘Transforming government and public services – realising benefits through project portfolio management‘ (Gower, 2010), as well as jointly authoring the PMI sponsored ‘Project Portfolio Management – A view from the management trenches‘ (Wiley, 2009).
